Getting #Help when connected

If you need help using chat, or if you're having another problem that you feel you need help with, then please join the channel #Help (type /join #Help) and someone there will be able to assist you.

If you are unable to get an answer to your question in help, for any reason, you can ask the server to tell you what IRCops are available by typing:

/ircops

From this list, you can open a message window to an online IRCop by typing:

/query ircopnickname

Then typing your question in the window that opens.

Registering your nick

To register your nickname:

First make sure you are using the nickname you want to register, if not, change to the nickname you want to register by typing /nick nicktoregister (replace nicktoregister with the nickname you want to register), then type:

/msg NickServ REGISTER "password"

Change "password" to a password of your own that is hard for people to guess. Using "password" as your password is NOT a good idea ;)

If you want to register your nickname via our webchat:

Click on "Menu" in the bottom left-hand corner of the webchat

Click on "Register Nickname"

Fill out the required information (including email)

Please note, that although your email address is required to register your nickname via the webchat, it is hidden by default, KinkstersChat does not use it for any purpose and we will not give or sell your email address to anyone (if you're still uneasy about using your email address, use a fake one :P)

Grouping multiple nicks

Sometimes, you may want to register more than one nickname. In this case you can group all your nicknames under your main nickname. This way you will have the same password for all your nicknames and memo's sent to one of your nicknames can be read by ANY of your nicknames.

To group a new nickname to your main nickname, do the following:

Change to your new nickname

Type /msg NickServ GROUP mainnicktogroupto mainnickpassword

For example, if your main nickname is Roomie with the password mypass and you wanted to register an away nick Roomie-away, you would do the following:

Type /nick Roomie-away

Type /msg NickServ GROUP Roomie mypass

Now, all memos send to Roomie-away will still be accessible to Roomie, when changing from Roomie to Roomie-away or Roomie-away to Roomie, you will not be asked for a password each time.

Virtual and Vanity hosts

Although KinkstersChat already mask part of your IP and hostmask so that others cannot see it or work out where you're from, you may wish to have your entire IP and hostmask masked. This may be to enhance your own personal privacy or just so you can have something cool looking. To request a vHost:

Type /msg HostServ REQUEST something@some.cool.host.com

Once a KinkstersChat host setter has verified that your requested hostmask is not abusive, they will activate your hostmask and you will be notified when your hostmask is ready to use.

To turn on your vHost so that it applies to all the nicknames in your group:

Ensure your nickname is the same as the one you used to request the vHost

Type /msg HostServ ON

Type /msg HostServ GROUP
